2024 Trip Details

TBA…

Get away to a place of incredible beauty. Dine in a castle. Stroll a campus with bighorn sheep, deer, and wild turkeys. Study God’s Word with Jeff and Carrie Berger. Make friends that will last a lifetime.

Location: Glen Eyrie Castle and Colorado Conference Center is located in Colorado Springs, CO. First Baptist Conroe has a rich history at the Glen, sending conference groups and volunteers there for years. Glen Eyrie Castle was originally built by William Jackson Palmer, the founder of Colorado Springs. Since 1953, it has been owned by the Navigators, a Christian ministry, and hosts retreats and conferences for groups from across the country.

Lodging: Our group will be staring in the Cedar Ridge Lodge. Rooms have two queen beds.

Schedule: You can arrive at your own pace and check in Sunday, October 8. Monday through Wednesday, our schedule will be:

7:30-9:00 Breakfast in the castle

9:30-11:00 Morning Session

11:30-1:00 Lunch in the castle

1:30-2:30 Afternoon Session

2:30- Free time, and dinner on your own.

Things to do: We’ve left the schedule fairly open, so you can be refreshed. The grounds of Glen Eyrie are beautiful and quiet. You can sit in a picturesque spot, praying, meditating on the Word, or reading. There are also many great things to do if you want to be more active:

Hike the trails at Glen Eyrie. There are many other great trails in the area, including…

Garden of the Gods National Natural Landmark is right next door, and is a must-see.

Visit Pikes Peak in nearby Manitou. The cog train can take you all the way to the top.

Explore any of the museums in Colorado Springs, including the National WWII Aviation Museum.

Visit the Air Force Academy campus, or the US Olympic Training Center.

Visit the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo.

Shop the Old Colorado City Historic District.

Play board games, work jigsaw puzzles, and fellowship with other FBC folks.

Getting there: Colorado Springs has an airport, or you can fly into Denver (an hour and a half drive). From Conroe, it’s a 14 hour drive.

Food: The retreat includes dinner Sunday night, breakfast and lunches Monday-Wednesday, and breakfast only on Thursday, all in the castle. Dinner Monday-Wednesday is on your own. Colorado Springs has tons of great dining options (see Tripadvisor or Yelp, or talk to some who’ve been there before for recommendations). There is also food at the Glen Eyrie coffee shop, but it closes at 6:00.

Rates: Rates will be announced soon.
