Saturday, June 13
Where in your life are you stuck? Confess it to Him today, taking full responsibility. Start calling on Him daily for change, and let Him guide you where He will. Don’t buy into our natural excuse: “I’m not perfect, but I’m good enough.” True, God loves you just as you are. But He also loves you too much to leave you that way.
In Walk the Line, Johnny Cash never does get the tractor unstuck. He guns the engine again and again, to no avail. Then he pushes the clutch, and the whole thing rolls backward into the lake. Everyone else has left, but June Carter has stayed, and she rushes into the lake and pulls him out of the water. In his drug-addled state, he might have drowned there. As he’s lying on the ground, sopping wet, he says, “You should have left me.”
Why doesn’t God leave us? Surely it would be easier to move on to more promising prospects. But that’s not who He is. God is stubborn in the best way. His grace is greater than all our sin. And His love is so perfect, He’d rather die for us than live without us. If we’re worth dying for, then we’re worth fighting for when we get stuck. He will never stop fighting for you. Call on Him today.
Can there possibly be a better song than Victory in Jesus after a week like this?
