Walk Like Jesus
THE SERMON ON THE MOUNT
The Sermon on the Mount is often acclaimed (even by non-Christians) as the greatest moral teaching ever presented. Sadly, however, many Christians seem to think Jesus didn’t really mean what He said. Some even think the Sermon was an impossible standard to make us aware of our need for grace; in other words, He was setting us up to fail. But in the words of a recent book on the subject, “What if Jesus was serious?” I believe He was. The Sermon on the Mount is like the “after” picture in one of those workout plans. It shows us the life Jesus wants us to live, the life we should aspire to. It dares us to dream of the world-changing things that could happen if we began to walk like Him.

If we are the Temple where redemption happens, what is our plan to draw people to Him? The answer is to relearn an ancient, almost forgotten practice: Hospitality. In a time when loneliness is an epidemic, when few people know their neighbors, something as simple as a meal together can be the starting place for something beautiful to happen.
