Victory on the Horizon

Joshua is a difficult book. It’s brutal, leading to some tough questions about why God would command such relentless bloodshed. And it seems irrelevant to our lives today. Fortunately, Hebrews 4 tells us how to read the story: “Let us therefore strive to enter that rest, so that no one may fall by the same sort of disobedience” (4:11). An entire generation of Israelites experienced salvation from slavery, but they never saw the Promised Land. How many Christians know they are redeemed, but never enjoy the promised rest of abundant life? This series will build off our previous series, only from a corporate (instead of individual) standpoint. Let’s keep pushing toward the victory God has in mind for us as a church.

Part 1: God Is Always On Time

The book is six chapters in before a single battle is fought. God had several lessons to teach His people before they were ready. Even in moments where it seems like nothing is happening, God is doing important work in us.
