O Little Town of Bethlehem

Everyone knows that Jesus was born in Bethlehem. But that city is the site of several other big events, all of which teach us about the God who sent salvation that first Christmas.

Part 1: The Hopes and Fears of All the Years

You can look at the stories of three women in Bethlehem for evidence of how cruel our world can be. Rachel died there in childbirth, according to Genesis 35:19-20. Then there’s the horrific story of an unnamed young woman from Bethlehem in Judges 19. Finally, there’s Naomi, a woman who returned to Bethlehem saying, “I went away full, and God brought me back empty.” But that last story is evidence of something better: God is always working for our redemption.
